Eye of the Storm

Stained glass with ceramic and bottlecap on handmade thinset/mesh base, representing the eye of a hurricane. Inspired by radar images of category 5 Hurricane Maria, which took at least 2,975 lives and destroyed much of Puerto Rico in the fall of 2017, becoming one of the deadliest hurricanes in US history. Humanity's rampant exploitation of the environment is leading to a rapid and relentless increase in temperature, with a direct link to more powerful and dangerous storms such as Maria around the planet.
