It's Always Sunny on Mars

It is that time of year that reminds me of change, growth, and challenges ahead.
Every year, new students fill the campus with earbuds and cell phones to the ready. Each student arrives passionate and determined, ready to solve the world's problems. I listen to each one patiently and nod because it is that time of year.
I think of my youth, my dreams, and how I aspired to change the world. There were new ways to think and new places to explore. I hope some of these students fulfill their dreams, but I am also aware that personal challenges and unforeseen consequences will be ahead. How do I explain that some dreams will not be attained?
It is that time of year for exploration, when everything is fresh and new, like a flower opening its petals for the first time, trying to catch a glimpse of the morning sun.
